Lawyers, paralegals & legal assistants

The page behind every line

Hand the typing side of legal work to the AI tool your firm or company approved: transcript summaries, chronologies, issue lists on the other side's draft, drafts from the firm's forms and client updates, each point tied to its source. Legal judgment, deadlines, signatures and advice to the client stay with the attorney.

What the course covers

Transcript summaries, chronologies, contract issue lists, first drafts and client letters — drafted with the AI tool your firm approved, every point tied to its source, and every decision, signature and piece of advice left with the attorney.

  1. 01
    Reading the record

the matter check before anything goes in, the summary with a page and line on every point, and the chronology that keeps both dates: Before anything goes in; Page and line; The chronology, and where each date came from

  2. 02
    Drafts and citations

the other side's draft read against your playbook, the firm's form instead of the model's, and the cases a model writes that no court ever decided: The other side's draft; The firm's form, not the model's; Cases that do not exist

  3. 03
The client, the calendar, the card

where things stand without telling the client what to do, the deadline that never comes from the tool, and one page that keeps the day straight: Where things stand, not what to do; No deadline comes from the tool; The day, and the card

One side of one page by your keyboard: the matter check on what may go into which tool, the docket checked by hand, a source on every line, drafts from the firm's forms, a short handoff note on what the tool did and what you checked, and who to tell if something already went wrong. An attorney adds what they need to see before they sign.

The certificate names that artefact and the tools you used — not a title. It carries a code anyone can check: verify a certificate.

Hear the first lesson

The opening of lesson one, exactly as it plays inside — and the exercise that comes with it, which you can do right now without an account.

A large part of legal work is turning piles into something a lawyer can rely on. A transcript becomes a summary, a box of records a chronology, a blank form a first draft. An AI assistant can take on a real share of that typing. This course is for attorneys and for the paralegals and legal assistants who work with them. Most lessons follow litigation work and explain each American court term. Lesson four is contract review, regular work for many in-house and deal lawyers. If your system uses other names, some of the vocabulary will not fit, but the habits still do.

You will follow two people. Ellen is a paralegal at a small firm that mostly litigates, and she wants to know where everything came from. She works mostly for Daniel, the senior associate, who signs what goes out, and she covers the legal secretary's desk when Ana is out. If you are the attorney, you sit in Daniel's chair. At a small firm or in a company, you may sit in both.

When you are the attorney, you decide, you sign and you advise the client. The AI can read, sort, compare and draft, but it decides nothing.

One question comes first.

Where:The AI tool your firm approved, with the firm's AI policy

Here is our firm's policy on AI tools. [PASTE THE POLICY] List each thing it says about client documents, quote the exact sentence for each, and mark anything it leaves unclear.
Done when
  • The policy went into the approved tool, not a personal account
  • Every item came back with a quoted sentence you found in the policy
  • One matter file has the three questions at the top, answered in writing
