Starting a business or a side business

From an idea to the first people you ask

Use an AI assistant on an account kept just for the business to draft the paperwork of starting: your idea in two sentences, interview questions, sorted notes, a cost sheet, questions for official sources and a first offer. What people actually said, the price, the legal and tax answers, every message you send and the decision to keep going stay with you.

What the course covers

Use an AI assistant to take an idea from two sentences to the first people you ask — interview questions, sorted notes, a list of alternatives, a price from your own costs, the official questions and a first offer — while what people said, the price, the legal and tax answers and every message stay yours.

One page kept where you work and opened every week: your two sentences, what people did kept apart from what they might do, dated alternatives, your cost floor and price, the official questions still open, the offer and where the log lives. Below, your guesses written as questions, and a red list of what never goes into the tool and who decides what.

The certificate names that artefact and the tools you used — not a title. It carries a code anyone can check: verify a certificate.

The opening of lesson one, exactly as it plays inside — and the exercise that comes with it, which you can do right now without an account.

A lot of businesses start as a sentence about the person starting them. I'm good at this. People keep asking me. It is a fine place to begin. It is also about you, and the people who might pay are not in it yet.

This course follows one idea from that first sentence to the first people who are asked to buy. An AI assistant can draft a lot of the paperwork along the way. What people actually said, the price, the legal and tax answers and every message you send stay with you, and the course is about keeping those two apart.

Meet Rosa. She works as a school office administrator, and she alters and mends clothes for family and friends. She is starting an alterations and repair business from her rented apartment, on the side, while she keeps her job. You will see her decisions and habits in every lesson, never her results.

First, two decisions nobody else will make for you. In many companies, someone approves the AI tool people use for work. In your own business, that person is you. So choose one assistant and one account used only for the business, separate from your personal one, and call it your business account. Read what its plan says about your conversations: how long they are kept, who can see them, and whether they are used to improve the model. Plans differ, and the companion notes show where this lives in common tools such as ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini. If you cannot find a clear answer, use the account only for your own idea and made-up examples until you can. Even with a clear answer, anything that could point to another person comes out before you paste; lesson three shows how.

The second decision is for anyone who still has a job. The business stays off your employer's laptop, email and accounts, and out of the AI tool your employer approved for work. Nothing from the job goes into the business: no documents, no figures, no contacts. What your contract says about outside work is on the list in lesson six.

Try it now · Turn your idea into two sentences about other people

Where:Your business account: one assistant and one account used only for the business

Here is my idea in my own words: [YOUR IDEA]. Ask me questions one at a time until you can write two sentences: who has this problem and when it shows up, and what they do about it now. Do not add anything I have not told you.
Done when
  • Neither sentence would fit just any business
  • Every word you could not back up is on your guesses list
  • You know what your plan does with your conversations, or you used only your own idea

Start with the job, not the library
