AI for Teachers
Nine short lessons on the typing side of teaching: a week brief instead of a topic, an answer key you work yourself before the copier, the line on what stays in the building, feedback turned from your own shorthand into sentences, one goal with different ways in and no level labels, the message home with observations instead of verdicts, report comments where every sentence points to something you saw, an AI line on each assignment and a detector score that is not proof, and the note that carries a unit into the next time you teach it, with the card that holds the course together.
Classroom teachers at any grade and in any subject, and adult-education teachers in high-school-equivalency, adult literacy, ESL and continuing-education classes, in the US or Europe. It is not a guide to choosing ed-tech for a school. Nothing here needs code, and nothing about a student goes into a tool your school or district has not approved for it.
What you will practise
- A lovely lesson for a class that does not exist
give it your week, not your topic, and mark the draft in pen
- A real student's essay, and the thought that a tool could help with this
describe the situation, never the student, and only in the tool your school approved
- The stack of lab reports on the corner of the desk
you read and judge in your own shorthand; the tool only turns it into sentences
